Reboot Gaming Lounge Brings Retro “Couch Gaming” Back to Vegas!

Reboot Gaming Lounge

If you are looking for a place with retro games in a casual setting, Reboot Gaming Lounge is the best place in Las Vegas. When you first walk in you will notice right away that these owners appreciate and love classic console games. They have Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and just about every gaming console since 1977 (sans the Neo-Geo and Atari 5200). For those of you who think that the Atari is old and lame, (you’re wrong) don’t worry: They also have Xbox and PlayStation consoles including the current generations. But it is the older systems that have the best variety of games, over a hundred for Nintendo and Sega alone.

Retro Atmosphere With Mortal Kombat Mural

Epic Sub-Zero and Scorpion Battle

The open atmosphere is chill and as classic as the consoles. They have painted murals on the wall including an epic battle between Mortal Kombats’ Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Their bean bag style benches and chairs are unique and are made to help support your neck and back. Trust me they are comfortable, I didn’t even want to leave the chair.

Each TV is set up in a circle to help gamers socialize and is ideal for viewing. They have around a dozen stations, all with different consoles for the choosing. Finally, the low lighting is not too dark but just right for gaming. With snacks and drinks for sale, this place is perfect for the serious and casual gamer.

Reboot Gaming Lounge: Our Vision

When Brian Newman, Jesse Short, Pat Hamilton, and Evan Morris set out to open Reboot, they were looking for a way to get gamers back into the social aspect of playing video games. Jesse remembers when he was a kid and all his friends would come over to play video games together. This is what Reboot aims to do. When I asked Jesse what his goal was for the lounge he said, “We aim to be your one stop, nerd shop.”

Board Games and Manga are Available

In many ways Jesse‘s statement is true. In addition to video game consoles the lounge hosts a back room with over 1,000 Manga and over 100 board games that customers can use there in the shop. This room is in the back and has adequate lighting for reading and playing games like Munchkin, Ticket to Ride, and many other popular board games. Evan Morris, co-owner, is responsible for the Manga. He has been collecting for 8 years and buys new Manga every week.

“I went to a convention and saw their Manga collection,” he says, “I noticed that I had more Manga than they did and that’s when I had the idea to put it here in the shop.”

Reboot Hosts Events Such as “Casual Nights”

Reboot also hosts many events like the “Casual Nights” run by Vanessa Cohen. She runs “Casual Nights” at different venues but was here at reboot this past Friday. You may also know her from Press Start Gaming as she runs the “Bloodsport” event there. She was here with top ranked Street Fighter V competitors Aaron Lovato and Isaac Perez. Isaac is also known as SFCHAMP84 and hasn’t lost a Street Fighter V tournament in the last three months. Follow him at the Texas Showdown in Houston May 5th-7th, support our local talent.

Reboot Location

Reboot Gaming Lounge is located at 2950 S. Durango Suite 100, Las Vegas Nevada on the northwest side of town. This is the place for you retro gamers who miss the old school feel, but if you’re not a dinosaur like me; this place caters to casual and hardcore gamers alike. I was even able to talk to Aaron and Isaac there. Keep an eye out for future events at Reboot by following our events calendar.
