Growth of Esports in Las Vegas

Esports Viewing Parties Gain Popularity Among Las Vegas Bar Patrons

LoL Viewing Party Las Vegas

Esports in Las Vegas (ELV) held their second esports viewing party at Highscores bar on Sunday April 23. The viewing party was for League of Legends NA LCS finals between Cloud 9 and Team Solo Mid (TSM). The seating area to watch the finals on the big screen was filled up just as the first match began and the crowd stayed to cheer on their team for the full tournament from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. The viewing party was free to attend and included drink specials and free raffle tickets for League of Legends gift cards and other esports souvenirs. Highscores also has a variety of retro arcade games that are always free to play for customers.

SPOILER ALERT: The tournament was very close going all the way to game 5 in a best of 5 where TSM was able to take the win to the detriment of the crowd who were mostly Cloud 9 fans.

Esports Viewing Parties

ELV’s first esports viewing party was for the game Overwatch in March and it was also held at Highscores bar. Because of the success of the esports viewing parties so far, ELV plans on increasing the viewing parties to 2 a month.

ELV’s next esports viewing party will be for Super Smash Bros. Royal Flush finals held at Bad Beat Brewery: 7380 Eastgate Rd, Henderson, NV 89011 on May 14.  Smash has one of the largest organized communities for local tournaments so it is likely that there is an audience for pro Smash Bros. just like there has been for Overwatch and League of Legends. ELV plans on hosting viewing parties for a variety of esports in order to determine which games Las Vegas locals are most interested in watching the pros play, so if you’re an esports fan, make sure to get out there and support your game.

Meltdown Esports Bar

Esports bars have been popping up all over Europe and a few have appeared here in the US. Looking forward into 2017, esports just looks to grow faster than ever before. In Las Vegas alone, there are countless sports bars for traditional sports. As the number of esports fans closes in on the number of traditional sports fans, the demand for a social setting for esports fans only increases. The frequency of esports tournaments, coupled with the amount of streamed gaming content on sights like Twitch.com creates an endless amount of casual and pro gaming content over a large variety of games.

Follow EsportsinLasVegas on Facebook for updates on local viewing parties so you can become part of the local esports community as it emerges. If you can’t attend the May 14 Bad Beat Brewery viewing or if Smash Brothers isn’t your game, check out the ELV calendar for more upcoming esports viewing party events.
